I am a highly skilled and experienced professional who has worked across a range of services in local government, education, business and the voluntary and community sector. I have direct experience of leading teams, managing complex projects including organisational change, service redesign, consultation, partnership development, training and coaching. It is my pleasure to work with organisations and individuals to help them achieve their goals whether that be a complex reorganisation, planning an event or preparing for a job interview.
A current highlight of my work is providing safeguarding and child protection advice and training to volunteers, practitioners and managers across Kent. I am also privileged to be working with a team of managers in a commercial setting to improve their skills and effectiveness.
All services are planned around individual or organisational needs and are delivered through bespoke schemes of work agreed with the client.
I am passionate about improving outcomes for children and young people and have over 20 years’ experience of working in child focussed services in the public and voluntary sectors. Currently I am actively involved in developing and delivering safeguarding and child protection training. I am an Associate Trainer with Kent Safeguarding Children Board and I also deliver bespoke level 2 and 3 training programmes for specific groups and organisations.
Courses recently provided include:
I have tailored these courses and others for a wide range of groups including small charities, clubs, church groups and larger organisations including schools and specialist services.
Please get in touch to discuss your training needs.
Whatever your business or charitable purpose people will be your greatest resource. As a trained management coach with many years of direct management experience I am able to support individuals and teams to grow, improve and be more effective
Coaching has been proven to deliver positive and lasting improvements and I have seen this first hand through individual and group coaching that I have provided. I have delivered coaching programmes for individuals; start-up businesses and charities and for managers and supervisors in commercial settings.
In addition to coaching I provide a wide range of staff and management training for example , Being a great Team Manager, Internal Customer Relationships, and Business Planning to get Results. Rather than buying an ‘off the shelf’ training programme I sit down with clients and design training that meets their specific needs and then deliver that training flexibly.
I have highly developed organisational and planning skills and have supported a wide range of organisations to make things happen. As a consultant I have organised events, launches, conferences and recruitment campaigns including a charity launch at the House of Lords in 2014. I take a particular pleasure in helping organisations to identify priorities and put a strong plan together to realise their objectives. I have worked with charities to help mobilise new services and I have lead a number of reviews and reorganisations to help an organisation to adapt and move forward
Whenever I have the privilege of working with an organisation it is always my aim to add value that equips the organisation after I am gone.
Joy delivers..... regardless of brief. Has high integrity and a fantastic commitment to achieving improved outcomes for young people. A delight to work with and someone who will deliver with absolute commitment and integrity.
I feel inspired having spoken to Joy this week about a possible exciting new venture. She has provided sound advice, in a positive and constructive way. I hope to benefit from her coaching experience more as the new venture unfolds! Thank you Joy.
Joy is a strategic thinker with a superb grasp of complex issues and is solution focused. Her organisational skills are second to none with an attention to detail that creates structures and processes which produce great results, I cant recomend her highly enough !
I have been lucky enough to attend a number of training days led by Joy on different child protection topics. Most recently a child sexual exploitation and designated officer training. Joy is an extremely knowledgeable trainer and she is up to date with current legislation and guidance. Joy creates an environment that allows for healthy discussion, a safe place to share practice experience and explore examples of cases. I have no hesitation in recommending Joy as a trainer.
I worked in partnership with Joy for several years - she is an absolute professional who is organised and methodical in her approach. Joy is a good listener who is strategic and is quick to grasp new concepts and ideas. She is thorough in her approach and pays close attention to detail. Joy's focus is always towards achieving a positive outcome. I have no hesitation in giving Joy my full recommendation - she is a pleasure to work with!
I have worked with Joy for the past 2 years – the initial brief was to deliver a bespoke Management Coaching and Training programme for my senior team who are responsible for leading a workforce of 170 people. The individuals varied in background and experience using different approaches to team leadership and achieving inconsistent results. Over time, I have seen my team develop into confident, professional, well organised leaders with a consistent structured approach to project and staff management. This in turn has resulted in significant improvements in all performance metrics. Joy has become a trusted and highly valued resource for my business and I look forward to continuing our journey with her.
Spring 2018 has been a lively period – I’ve worked with some new organisations including Medway Talking Trust where I delivered bespoke safeguarding and child protection training. It was a pleasure to work with such a great group of clinicians and managers and I look forward to furthering training with them.
For my own development, I am taking a level 2 mindfulness course delivered by Breathworks. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn something new that is really helping me manage my work-life balance.
In parallel with my own training, I am supporting a programme of mindfulness training with schools and children’s charities. This is part of the Headstart Kent programme and has been a real highlight for me.
Working with managers and supervisors at CCL Ashford I have recently delivered courses on Personal Organisation and Planning, Questioning and Listening Skills, Dealing with Confrontation and Managing Difficult Conversations and Project Management. These courses are supported by small group coaching to help trainees apply the learning so it has a real impact. We are now planning a team away-day in June.
Recently I have delivered safeguarding and child protection training at a children’s centre in Dartford, for staff at SE Water, at a children’s home and for a group of foster carers. I highly value this work and I am hoping to see it grow.
With Leading Learning South East I am helping to plan the annual conference for Kent Association of Headteachers and have supported the introduction of a new peer review programme involving 55 schools across Kent.
